You are invited on a genuine fair chase hunt with Mort, one of the most experienced Professional Hunting Guides in New Zealand. A reasonable level of fitness is an advantage however he caters for any age and physical ability and is patient and encouraging when teaching novice hunters.
Hunting begins on foot from Kuranui Hunting Lodge as the sun awakens the day. Experience the earthy essence of ferns and forest and early birdsong as you walk secret trails that lead to clearings, lush green river flats or vantage points to glass for game. Silently deer appear stalking begins, excitement mounts, closer and closer for a good clear shot, hushed whispers, lots of pointing, shooting sticks in place and finally the crosshairs focused on their mark... the rest as they say is up to you!!

Our customised hunts can include from our North Island location: Red Stag, Fallow, Rusa, Sika, Sambar, Arapawa Ram and wild Goat and night shooting for small game, rabbits, hares and possums. Our trophies carry impressive antlers blackened from rubbing their favourite 'Manuka' bush and pearly tips from polishing in the volcanic soil. In the South Island Mort guides you high in the Southern Alps for free range Tahr and Chamois. Your combination hunt is tailored personally for you and can include game from both the North and South Islands of New Zealand
We specialise in exclusive bookings of one hunter, couples or groups of up to of 8 family or friends. We have hosted hunters and families from around the world including USA, Australia, Canada and Europe.
It is easy to bring your own rifle to New Zealand or you can use one of our loan rifles with quality optics.
Hunters and non-hunters are welcome, and firearms with quality optics can be provided.
You are always encouraged to experience some time in the field or participate in all of the hunting adventures. Kuranui is located near the tourist attractions of Rotorua, long golden beaches at Mt Maunganui, wineries, golf courses, Hobbiton, hiking tracks, shopping as well as numerous other adventure, sporting and cultural activities.
