Located in the South Pacific Ocean, New Zealand waters become home to seasonal pelagic species of big game fish throughout the year. With experienced big game fishermen on the team here at Kuranui, you’ll have the expertise on hand to chase these apex predators of the ocean, both in the summer and winter seasons. Common pelagic species include Striped Marlin, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Broadbill / Swordfish, Mahimahi, Shortbill Spearfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Bigeye Tuna, and Bluefin Tuna.

Not only is big game fishing a thrilling experience shared amongst those on board, it also provides the opportunity to harvest some of the most delicious seafood for the table. Our chefs at Kuranui have years of experience crafting the finest and freshest dishes made from the harvest, including sashimi, ceviche, smoked fish and much more.

If time and weather is not in our favor during your stay for an offshore big game fishing experience, then New Zealand’s coastlands, inshore islands and harbours also offer excellent boat, land and beach based fishing for some of the world’s finest table fish. These include Red Snapper, Kingfish, John Dory, Kahawai, Hapuka, Bluenose, Gurnard and Tarakihi to name a few. With a fresh harvest of local seafood to complement your Kuranui free range venison, you’ll experience the absolute pinnacle of local and fresh produce that New Zealand is renowned for.

Location

We are located in the central North Island of New Zealand. Approximately 2.5 hours drive from Auckland international airport, and an easy 1-hour drive from either Hamilton or Rotorua domestic airports. Flight time via private helicopter charter from Rotorua is approximately 10 minutes travel.
